Velayat 90 (or Supremacy 90) is the 10 day 'naval exercise' done by Islamic Republic of Iran in Sea of Oman near 'Strait of Hormuz'.
- The maneuvers include firing of 'cruise missiles' that could be used against commercial or battle ships.
- The exercise comes in the wake of new sanctions by United States on Iran, that would bar any financial institution that conducts business with Iran's Central Bank from doing business with U.S financial institutions.
- In counter, Iran has stated that it might block Oil Shipments off the Strait of Hormuz which accounts for 20% of worlds oil supply.
- Shohaday -e- Vahadat is another military exercise done by Iran near the 'Strait of Hormuz' for countering infiltration of vital points.
